In recent years, medical laser technology has developed rapidly. New devices allow increasingly precise interventions that leave minimal scars in the soft tissues. In laryngeal interventions, this can often prevent major surgery or tracheal incisions. Laser treatments of burn scars also mean a significant increase in quality of life for patients.

Against this background, a fundraising campaign was initiated by the Care-for-Rare Foundation.

The pediatric intensive care unit at the Dr. von Haunerschen Children's Hospital, Germany's competence center for laser treatments of the larynx in children, is being supported with the purchase of a state-of-the-art device.

The necessary sum of 85,000 euros was quickly raised and the Koller Foundation covered half of the purchase price for the urgently needed laser device.
